Any message sent after the first one. The second email. The third. The reply to "not now."
why it matters
Most deals don't happen on the first touch. Most replies don't either. SDRs who don't follow up lose 80% of their pipeline. The follow-up is where the actual conversion happens — not the opener.
how I use it
In every campaign I write, the follow-up does more work than email 1. Email 1 introduces. Email 2 reinforces with a pain point or proof. If they don't reply, email 3 closes the loop so it doesn't feel abandoned. I also use "manual follow-up" as a routing step — if a lead is warm but not ready, I flag them for a personalized follow-up later instead of auto-nurture.
